Crack Open the Chat

Better Eggs

Testimonial

“We can’t thank Tess and Shellie from Lime Events enough for the incredible work they did bringing our Crack Open the Chat charity event to life - creating awareness for mental health in the South Waikato. This event, held in support of the Rural Support Trust, was more than just a success – it was a record-breaker, becoming the largest fundraiser the Waikato Rural Support Trust has ever had, raising over $80,000.

From start to finish, Tess and Shellie went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. Their professionalism, creativity, and commitment to excellence meant everything ran seamlessly. The styling, in collaboration with The Event Girl, completely transformed the venue and created a warm, inviting space that set the tone for a powerful night.

We’ve received nothing but glowing feedback from attendees, sponsors, and the community. Every objective we set was not only met – it was exceeded” - Better Eggs

Our Approach

Delivering a major event in a rural region came with logistical challenges, especially sourcing a venue large enough to host 400+ people. We secured the Putāruru Plaza and reimagined the layout to maximise the space. Our design included:

  • A creative tunnel entry for guests to collect pre-packed dinner boxes (a highlight)

  • “Vendor trays” roaming the venue – inspired by stadium snacks – for a fun and functional catering experience

  • A thoughtfully designed registration process tailored for a less tech-savvy audience

  • A low-cost, user-friendly silent auction platform

Our goal was to make every detail feel purposeful while keeping the event accessible and engaging for the local community.

Results & Impact

  • Sold out event with 100% attendance

  • Raised over $80,000 – exceeding the fundraising goal by $30,000

  • Came in $15,000 under budget, passing on supplier discounts and negotiated savings

  • Meaningful community impact – Attendees shared heartfelt stories of how the event supported their mental health journey

  • Widespread positive feedback from guests, sponsors, and media
